Greg is joined by Jessica Nickel, the CEO and founder of the Addiction Policy Forum. Together, they interview Scott Strode, the CEO and founder of Phoenix Multisport—a unique recovery community teaching those struggling with substance abuse the skills and disciplines to stay sober via athletic training.

Greg asks Scott about how Phoenix Multisport came to be and the recovery community’s mission. Scott begins by discussing how he himself has been in recovery for the past 20 years. He continues by sharing how he found solace, fellowship and eventually recovery through boxing. He explains how Phoenix Multisport helps participants reclaim their lives through athletic training, like he did. “I saw so many people in recovery and early recovery struggling to have a rich life,” says Scott. “At Phoenix, we believe that every time we stand on a mountain or cross a finish line, our self-esteem heals a little bit…The key part of the program is the community that you’re sharing that experience with; they become your recovery support network.”
